Road Trip

Today the kids and I took a road trip to Conway to visit Baby Luke in the hospital. My friend, Megon, had him yesterday around noon. He slept peacefully the whole time we were there. It just so happened that my friends Melissa and Lydia were planning on going at the same time, so we all went and ate lunch at Chick-fil-a afterwards.

I decided to brave it and take the double stroller. The kids and I did a little shopping afterwards. They actually did okay. Logan was pretty cranky because he was way overdue for a nap. He fell asleep in the stroller for about 20 minutes, but then woke up to Madison throwing a fit. I decided to just go ahead and shop and let him cry. I'm sure everyone else in the store was annoyed, but hey, I didn't care. What's a mom gotta do to get a little shopping time in?

I was looking for swimwear for the kids and found a cute suit and sunglasses for Madison and a cute swim bottoms and a swim shirt for Logan. Can't wait to go out on the boat for the 1st time and try them out! I grabbed a few shirts from TJMaxx without trying them, because to honest, they just wasn't time, so I'll have to see if those work out.

It was a good day, but I'm pooped and so are the kids. They were soo moody, due to lack of sleep. Thank goodness they are now tucked away in bed! ;)

Memorial Day Weekend

The long weekend came and flew by soo fast. I can't believe it's already almost Tuesday. I enjoyed having Gabe around the house an extra day...even though I think we wore him out with all of our festivities!
Saturday, Gabe enjoyed a little time out on the lake taking his boat out for the first time this summer. He said the water was pretty cold, but that didn't stop him from catching a little air out on the water on the wakeboard! We grilled Saturday evening at home.

We headed to my parents' house on Sunday evening and enjoying burgers, brats, all the fixings, homeade ice cream, and blueberry cobbler! YUM!

This morning we went blueberry pickin' with the kids and my family. It is kind of a family tradition. We've gone the last several years and I really enjoy it. It usually gets hot quick and my back always starts to hurt from bending over and picking from the bushes, but it's a lot of fun. I love how clean this berry farm is! If you know me well, you know that I'm really not an outside girl and I'm sure not a farm girl! (I'd rather clean house than work out in the yard any day!) So, the cleaner the better!

Another neat thing about this farm is that they have some farm animals. The kids enjoyed watching the goats and chickens.

Madison even fed the goats some grass!

You may be wondering why Logan is playing with a belt in this picture. They provide belts at the farm for you to put around your waist and attach your bucket to. That way you are free to pick with both hands. It works great until your bucket starts to fill up and then the weight from the berries really starts to hurt your back!

This girl LOVES the outdoors!

And animals! I hope she got all of her lovin' in while we were at the farm, because she sure won't be lovin' on any animals at home! Ha!

POOPED FROM PICKIN'!!!

Showin' off her berries!

Mmm...Mmm...Good!

This evening we headed over to Gabe's parents' house for another cookout. We had burgers and hot wings and they were great!

Happy Memorial Day! Remembering my cousin, Dustin Newton, tonight as he is in Iraq serving our country.

Neiman Marcus Bars

Yum! I was craving these tonight, so I decided to make them. I've never made them before, but have eaten them several times. They are pretty rich, but very good!

Neiman Marcus Bars

1 box yellow cake mix (golden butter recipe)
1 stick margarine
1 egg
1 lb. box powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese

Mix first three ingredients with mixer. Spread into lightly greased 9x13 pan. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over cake dough. Bake at 325 for 45 minutes.

ENJOY!!!

Too Big for His Own Good

I have done a terrible job of documenting Logan's birthdays each month! There's just not near as much free time when trying to keep up with two. Logan turned 9 months old on the 23rd. I can hardly believe it. He started crawling this past month and has also been pulling himself up on things around the house. He can walk all the way around the coffee table, while holding on. Just yesterday he started to stand and let go. Gabe and I were both super surprised. I really think he'll be walking in a month or less. He is just such a strong little boy! Much different from my petite little girl!

These pictures were taken a while back. I've been spiking his hair for some time now, but his hair has really grown a lot in the past month. I think I may start coming his hair over to the side with a little gel. It will still stick up, but I tried it the other day and it looks better than all of his hair sticking up almost 2 inches on top! Ha!

Here he is in action. He's just the happiest little baby. I love him to pieces.

This little girl is pretty darlin' herself. I just love this little smocked lady bug outfit. This was her before MDO one day. Summer MDO doesn't start up for a month, so we are on our own until then. Whew! The days are long!

After we left the gym this morning, I got a text from another mom saying they were meeting at the church playground to play. I had just told Madison we would go play for a bit anyway, so I was glad some other kids would be there for her to play with. Both of the kids got a little dirty/wet so I stripped them down to their diaper before buckling them in. Madison really likes these sunglasses, even though they are too big. I need to find her a pair that fit her face a little better. By the way, they are upside down. But, hey... she DID IT HERSELF!!! (If ya know what I mean!)

For the Love of the Run 10K

This morning I ran my first 10K. (6 miles) Lori's husband (the girl in the pic) put this race together. The proceeds went to United Way. I'm sure putting a 10K together was loads of work and I bet he's glad it's over.

There were probably a little over 50 participants there. Several people from church ran. It rained most of the day yesterday and last night, but the rain held off this morning. It was a great run! My time was 56:15 and I was very pleased with it since I've been running about 10 minute miles.

What a great way to start the day! Looking forward to a great meal tonight with my husband!

Mother's Day 2011

Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful mother. I hope to be as great of a mother to my children as she has always been to me and my brother and sister. I definitely appreciate her a whole lot more now that I am a mother. Being a mom is hard work! No one tells you how hard it really is... Raising a strong willed child has also made me quite understanding to how things probably were when my mother was raising me... ;)

This little ball of C-H-E-E-S-E first made me a mother on February 19, 2009. She is a feisty, hot mess, but cute and sweet as can be.

This second little cutie made me a mother of two on August 23, 2010. He is calm, cool, and collected. A little stubborn when he doesn't get his way (ahem, like his father) but for the most part sweet!

We gave Grammy and Grandma Tervis tumblers with lids for Mother's Day. Aren't they so cute?

We had both of our families over to our house for a cookout Sunday after church. We had burgers and brats, baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, and several yummy desserts.

Gabe's Aunt Tom and Uncle Joe brought tops and yoyos for the guys to play with.

After lunch, we hung out outside and visited and watched the kids play.

Gabe said his family used to all gather outside after a big meal at his grandmother's house back in the day. Brought back some pleasant memories for several I think. We had a great time visiting.

Madison with two of her favorite men... Both are wrapped VERY tightly around her little finger.

Logan enjoyed playing on the bike with Papa.
Madison has an absolute blast. She played outside most of the day. She was hot and sweaty, but didn't seem to mind. This is how we found her sleeping in her bed when we checked on her. Hanging with family just wears you plum out!
